“Over my career I’ve had a lot of experience working with different consulting groups including Accenture, but now I choose to work with SandPoint Consulting because they provide a personalized approach.
SandPoint is simply a smarter choice when compared to the gigantic firms. I don’t like how big firms have sent me recent college graduates without much field experience to learn on my engagement at full cost, as if they’re reading a script from a text book, instead of interpreting true business needs. Conversely, I appreciate SandPoint’s consulting approach where they bring me in the loop on the solution. They offered me several options to achieve the end result with the pros and cons of each and offered an opinion on the best way to proceed. SandPoint made sure the solution would match my resources.
I also don’t like the model huge firms employ where they throw lots of bodies at you at exorbitant rates. During my search for a new consultant, when I finally found SandPoint, the one big firm I was also considering said my project required a project manager, a project lead, two junior consultants and some offshore work in either India or China. It seemed like gross overkill. I also was also less than impressed when they politely denied my request to review the team’s resumes because it’s “not their practice”. After a little digging, I found that one of the two junior consultants was new and I’d be essentially paying to train him on my job. Regarding this same project, I chose to go with SandPoint after talking with their previous customers. With SandPoint’s one, solid consultant I was able to successfully achieve the same project scope within a tight deadline. The project came in on time and within budget; and I was very happy with the quality.
Another reason I choose SandPoint is the people. I like that they’re easy to talk to and work with. They’re engaged through the whole process so that’s important.
SandPoint knows what they’re talking about both with accounting and the BPC tool. When I joined Otter Tail, there was a different BPC consultant working here. They didn’t understand my user group very well and they were building something too complex to effectively use. I replaced them with SandPoint who came in, tore down the previous work and rebuilt a user-friendly solution that I was happy with.
SandPoint’s training is very good. They developed custom training manuals for each of my three user levels made up of base-level users, power users, and administrators. I also find SandPoint’s training webinars helpful.
SandPoint is my first stop when I need help. While I maintain a support contract with SAP, I go to SandPoint first because they understand how my system was designed and return answers faster.
